• Bye Newry Ireland and thank you

On the full moon, some days previous to leaving Newry on the 21 st of July, we cycled the three km to Victoria Lock to wave good bye to our friends John and Shaun. They had been our neighbors this winter of 21 /22 moored nearby in Albert Basin which had been our collective safe and cheap haven, nestled into Newry town on the canal behind Sainsbury’s. Our friend John and his yacht at Victoria lock on the way to Carlingford You have to leave on a full moon high tide otherwise the water level is too low in the tidal Newry river.
  • Ireland and Scotland

After being on the water for a long time, sailing almost the entire Mediterranian sea from East to West and then the North Atlantic Ocean, adjusting to land life takes some time. But it is easier to arrive in a little village then in a big town. We learn that Ardglass marina is a charity and their staff members are volunteers. Just very friendy, helpfull, committed people: they do this for fun!
  • To Ireland in six weeks

Its time to fullfill one of my dreams: sailing to Scotland and Ireland. Stella is flying to Bodrum on June 5 and we will leave Gulluk on June 7. The total journey is around 3400 miles. At an asumed average speed of 5 knots that is 28 days of continuous sailing. But this is Covid time…. Turkey has reduced the number of cases from 60.000 to 5.000 during their Ramadan lockdown.
