It is a dark moonless night so it is “blind” navigation through the narrow western pass by comparing the GPS position of the boat with Google maps satellite overlays in OpenCPN while many fishermen in their dugout canoes shine their lights into my eyes…

The sail from Luganville Vanuatu to Lata on Ndendo island went well and the wind was gentle.

A rainy night arrival in port of entry Lata where local Hilda greets us in the tiny bay
There is one other boat there and in the morning two other boats arrive, all to clear in. We leave the next day to Rodney bay because there are now 5 boats in this tiny bay so we nearly touch eachother.

The sail to from Lata to Rodney bay on the Florida islands ( also named Nggela Sule) is a very nice one too

in 2000 this cruise ship hit a reef. Unable to stop the leak the captain decided to beach the ship in Rodney bay. Everyone survided

after moving to Simons place opposite the bay filling up the diving bottles as it is time to go diving at Simons reef
Simons nature reserve is a true gem! Simon provides 2 free boat moorings near the reef that Simon protects and restores. Please visit and support him.

the rudder of the boat is almost touching the reef
These 2 moorings are quite close to the reef so they are less suitable in conditions with north to northeasterly winds. Also I would say that our 16m boat was a bit too big for these fair weather moorings.
